Sonnet III - A Sonnet for The Sam Weller
|
|
By Jonathan Abraham.
|
The Sam Weller's a pub in Bath we know.
Where Gentlemen fancy to raise a glass.
So whenever we can it's there we go.
For laughter, singing, good food and Draught Bass.
The owner knows us 'cause we've been before.
Never had cause to demand that we leave.
Anthony's trousers have not touched the floor.
And Gentlemen never chunder or heave.
We always go there when we are in Bath.
To miss out we'd be mad; we'd be potty.
Sally's warm welcoming bosom and hearth.
And the Welsh import dog known as Tottie.
To Sam Weller's pub happy hearts we bring.
So let's raise the roof, now, Gentlemen Sing!
