Missing Drinker Mystery Solved A special report from Chief Editor, Jonathan David Abraham Phil Tapper, noted local historian, academic and raconteur, was for many years a most dedicated and regular drinker at the Five Bells Inn. Then suddenly and without warning he vanished from the Public Bar and has not been seen for some time. (Periodic readers will remember the similar disappearance of Ron Hughes as reported in Issue 2 of The Bugle in 1995 - Ed.). |

However, the riddle of the missing bon viveur has been solved by a chance discovery made by the chief editor of The Bugle whilst attending a recent media seminar in Bournemouth, Dorset. On his way home he had to travel through Poole and noticed with alarm the funeral home pictured left. Sniffing an exclusive, he took this photograph in which those with sharper eyes will see Phil peeping from behind the curtain on the left. Struggling to survive on the meagre salary paid to teachers, Phil realised that he had to find a supplementary income in order to make ends meet. Not wanting the local education authority to find out about his second job he had to set up business as far away as practically possible. STOP PRESS |

Phil Tapper has sold his undertakers business and is now regularly seen holding court in the Coach and Horses Public House. |
