Bridgend Traffic Chaos, Culprit Sought

A special report from Chief Editor, Jonathan David Abraham, additional reporting, Holly Abraham

Traffic on the busy A48 at Island Farm, Bridgend was brought to a stand still last Sunday when a man marched to the middle of the carriage way and prevented all vehicles from passing. Cars and lorries were halted for over ten minutes and confusion reigned as a mounted horse and several hundred pedestrians streamed across the road. A number of eye witnesses claim that some of them were wielding buckets and requesting money from the bewildered motorists.

Diminutive

One driver was able to take a photograph at the scene and the authorities are anxious to trace the diminutive yellow-jacketed man (right) standing proudly in the middle of the road.

A spokesman said "This is an extremely serious matter. The traffic was backed up on the east bound carriage way past the Broadlands roundabout and on the west bound back to the KFC restaurant. We can not allow members of the public to interfere with people going about their lawful business in this reckless way and we are making every effort to trace this miscreant."

Despite repeated calls for the public to come forward with any information to identify the culprit no leads have been identified and the authorities feel he may get clean away with it. The spokesman added that "We've been met by a wall of silence".

STOP PRESS

A potential lead has been established after one member of the public reported seeing the suspect later that day seemingly weighed down with a number of heavy carrier bags.
