Bridgend Landlord's Holiday Joy

A special report from Chief Editor, Jonathan David Abraham

Popular Landlord and Restauranter, Andy Bazley, is a bona fide hero to the people of Bridgend. Regulars of the town's oldest hostelry, the Five Bells, were in despair a couple of years ago when it was closed down for the second time in a few short years. Luckily for them plucky businessman Andy stepped in and saved the pub from the wrecking ball of circling property developers. He decided to re-open the Bells and his runaway success has made him the most popular man in the top-of-town.

Andy became 'mine host' in September 2015 and has worked tirelessly to restore the Five Bells to the magnificent pub it always used to be. Both bars were thoroughly cleaned, troublesome drinkers were banned and the Draught Bass and other drinks were returned to their former glory.

Off

Despite this magnificent revival a number of concerned regulars have recently started to worry about Andy's well being. He has hardly taken a day off since taking over and hasn't been on holiday with his young family for over two years. Finally two of the regulars, Geraldine Borge and Mike Cox, decided to do something about it.

Geraldine worked behind the Five Bells' bar for over ten years in the pub's earlier glory days and Mike ran a number of licensed premises during his long career. They volunteered to run the Bells for worn out Andy so he and his ever patient family could take a couple of weeks off for a well earned rest. Delighted, Andy immediately booked a luxury villa in the Costa del Sol resort of Benalmadena and started dreaming of spending some well earned time in the sun with his delighted family.

STOP PRESS

In a dramatic turn of events last night, Geraldine and Mike both stormed out of the Five Bells when they heard of Andy's 'no drinking behind the bar whilst working' rule leaving his holiday plans in tatters.
