Each of their first five single releases has topped the charts. 'Let's Drink On'; 'Marten's Song'; 'Pick Him Up, He's My Brother'; 'Newbridge Fields Forever' and 'Seventy Drunken Nights' have all taken the world by storm. Their classic work, 'Ewenny Road', is currently top of the album charts. Last winter they received standing ovations at the London Palladium following every performance of their critically acclaimed musical, 'Me and my Bass'. |

Even with this string of success under their belts, the 'Fabulous Five' were remarkably tense last night as they assembled at their recording studio at Ewenny Road. Transfixed to the television screen, they awaited the live broadcast on Radio One of the Top Forty which would reveal whether they would break the "Six Hit" barrier. At exactly 6.55pm Mark Goodier triumphantly announced, "and this week's new number one, 'If You Want To Be My Liver', The Bass Boys". The whole studio erupted with delight and pride. Bridgend's other hit singer, Philip 'Singing Rabbi' Tapper congratulated the boys and it is rumoured that there may soon be a sixth Bass Boy in the form of Beardy Bass. STOP PRESS The Bass Boys have just announced their forthcoming film, 'A Hard Day's Drink', which includes a cameo role for Oliver Reed, a personal friend of Brainy Bass. |
